PAPAW’S APPLE/CRANBERRY
COOKIE COBBLER
1 can (16 oz) whole berry cranberry sauce
1 package (20 ounces) refrigerated sugar cookie dough, cut in half
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
4 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and sliced
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Peel, core, and slice apples. Place in deep baking dish (9x10) Combine cranberry sauce, sugar, flour,and cinnamon in bowl; mix well. Pour over apples, mix well. Cut cookie dough in half; reserve one portion for another use. Slice cookie dough into 1/4 inch thick slices. Arrange evenly over apple mixture. Bake 30-35 minutes or until apples are tender and top is golden brown.
Yields 10 moderate servings.
Approximately 353 calories and 12 grams of fat per serving (for those who need to know)
This recipe came from my sister, and I tried it the first chance I had and it was delicious. My granddaughter, who loves helping Papaw cook, helped with this one, but didnt like Cranberries and wouldnt even try it.. I wouldnt have made it had I known that. I was just making it as for something for us to do together.. grrrr.. LOL.. Dont forget to teach the children your secrets, or they will all be lost.. again, it was delicious.
